candle safety tips

Before lighting:

  • Trim wick to ¼" for cotton
  • Trim wick about ⅛"–³⁄₁₆" for wood.
  • Keep the wax pool free of debris.
  • Use a sturdy, heat-resistant holder.
  • Avoid drafts and burn candles in a well-ventilated room.
  • Burn for no more than 3 hours at a time
  • Allow to cool before relighting.
  • Use long matches or lighters and keep hair/clothing away
    from flame.

While burning:

  • Never leave a burning candle unattended.
  • Keep away from flammable objects, children, and pets.
  • Don’t move a candle while wax is liquid.
  • Stop burning when ½" of wax remains.
  • Keep candles at least 12" apart.
  • Extinguish if flame flickers or becomes too high.
  • Never use as a night light or if you might fall asleep.

Extinguishing:

  • Use a snuffer to avoid splatter.
  • Never use water to put out a candle.
  • Ensure wick ember is fully out before leaving.
  • Let candle cool completely before moving.
